Election 2020: Biden continues digital campaign, DNC plans for virtual convention
This week, Trump has increased attacks against former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden’s search for a running mate while campaigning remotely, continues. In light of the Justice Department dropping charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn, Trump has elevated his “Obamagate” theory to implicate Joe Biden. Biden was on the list of high-ranking Obama administration members that acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell alleged were involved in the “unmasking” of Flynn. Trump’s “Obamagate” conspiracy theory holds that high-ranking Obama administration officials plotted against Trump by devising a hoax allegation that he colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. The Trump campaign released a wave of negative ads attacking Biden’s mental state and painting him as too friendly to the Chinese government. Trump’s attack ads on Facebook use selective edits of Biden’s verbal stumbles to make suggestions about his mental state. On Monday, Biden’s presidential campaign said it and the Democratic National Committee jointly raised $60 million in April.
