Amid the chaos of coronavirus, the Democratic National Convention (DNC) announced earlier this week that the Democratic convention will be postponed.

Originally set for July 13, the week-long convention is now scheduled to begin on August 17 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“Ultimately, the health and safety of our convention attendees and the people of Milwaukee is our top priority. And we will continue to be in contact with local, state, and federal health officials as we monitor this fluid situation,” said DNC chairman Tom Perez.

When questioned on the safety of the convention, Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden said, “We should listen to the scientists.”

The decision to postpone the convention comes as more than 12 states postponed or adapted primaries scheduled for March and April in order to comply with guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
