We ran the numbers: There are 2216 news articles covering this topic. 5% (103) are left leaning, 25% (563) are center, and 70% (1550) are right leaning.

A USA Today/Ipsos Poll found that two-thirds of Americans back tougher gun laws. While left-leaning articles highlight that Republicans and Congress as a whole seem to have given up even trying to pretend they will do anything big in response to the two major mass shootings in a week, right-leaning articles highlight that Vice President Harris and multiple top aides to President Biden said that they would support mandatory gun buybacks.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that Republicans and Congress as a whole seem to have given up even trying to pretend they will do anything big in response to the two major mass shootings in a week. In recent years, Democrats have increasingly pushed back on Republicans who have urged “thoughts and prayers” in the aftermath of such tragedies.

USA Today published a centrist article reporting that the poll, which was taken in the wake of two mass shootings in the span of a week, found that 65% of Americans say that gun laws should be stricter. However, the 54% support among Republicans two years ago has plummeted to 35%.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Vice President Harris and multiple top aides to President Biden said that they would support mandatory gun buybacks. However, mandatory gun buybacks are different from what Biden himself has said he supports, which is giving Americans the option to have the government buy back guns commonly known as assault weapons.
