On Wednesday, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders suspended his 2020 presidential campaign, bowing to the commanding delegate lead former Vice President Joe Biden established. While left-leaning articles highlight that the Sanders and Biden campaign are working to find common ground, right-leaning articles highlight Sanders’ decision to remain on the ballot to win delegates despite suspending his campaign.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times highlights that unlike Sanders, Biden inspired little enthusiasm among young voters, but triumphed because many voters rejected Sanders’ policy agenda as too far to the left. However, in recent days, Sanders’ aides intensified talks to find common ground with the Biden campaign.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that in his remarks Wednesday, Sanders congratulated Biden, calling him a “very decent man” and promised to “work with [Biden] to move our progressive ideas forward.” Sanders was never able to win broad support beyond his core supporter base and conceded that he was "losing the debate over electability" but argued he was winning the party's "ideological debate."

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Trump tweeted about Bernie’s decision to open rally supporters to help him win delegates to ensure influence at the Democratic National Convention even as he suspended his campaign. While a longtime Democratic consultant close to the former vice president said that there’s no animosity between Sanders and Biden, Sanders has yet to specifically endorse Biden.
