President-elect Joe Biden plans to release almost all vaccine doses immediately. While left-leaning articles highlight that the Biden administration’s strategy could avert an additional 23% to 29% of COVID-19 cases, right-leaning articles highlight that the Biden administration’s plan to release almost all coronavirus vaccines is wrong.
A left-leaning article by Los Angeles Times highlights that a recent scientific analysis conducted in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine estimated that a “flexible” approach to the Biden administration’s strategy could avert an additional 23% to 29% of COVID-19 cases. Former Food and Drug Administration head Mark McClellan said he agrees with Biden’s strategy, but it is important that the increased supply of vaccines is coupled with steps to get shots administered to people.
The Hill published a centrist article reporting that the Trump administration has been holding back half of the available doses to ensure there is enough for everyone to get two doses. However, the Biden administration said it is confident there will be enough manufacturing to ensure two doses, even if he releases all vaccine doses immediately.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Fox News contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier said the Biden administration’s plan to release almost all coronavirus vaccines is wrong. Only 28 percent of the coronavirus vaccines released across the country have been administered.
