Democrats have increasingly considered running against President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential elections. While left-leaning articles highlight the atypical nature of Democrats’ interest in potentially not supporting Biden, right-leaning articles highlight how establishment Democrats have turned against the President.

A left-leaning article from The Washington Post focused on how it is highly unusual for voters and parties to not support a current president for renomination. The article compared support for Biden to previous presidents, showing that the 64% of Democrat voters that say they would rather nominate someone else is the highest for a recent president.

The Hill published a centrist article reporting on the increased likelihood of Biden facing a primary challenger given his poor polling numbers, especially amongst progressives and young voters. With rising inflation, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the overturning of Roe v. Wade, there exists a growing perception in the Democratic party that Biden “has taken his hands off the wheel.”

A right-leaning article from Fox News focused on how establishment Democrats “are petrified” that Biden will run again. The article notes that Democrats have “sabotaged” Biden to prevent him from running by providing an “endless stream of leaks” such as reviving the Hunter Biden scandal. Concerns of cognitive decline have reportedly emanated from Democrat DC insiders, instead of progressives or the media.
