In an interview on Sunday, President Trump pitched that suburbanites will face rising crime and falling home values if they elect former Vice President Joe Biden for president. While left-leaning articles highlight that Trump knows things aren’t looking good for him, right-leaning articles highlight that Trump is openly campaigning against crime.
A left-leaning article by The New York Times highlights that private aides said that although Trump knows things aren’t looking good for him, he thinks that public polls are overstating Biden’s advantage. The article notes that Trump’s view of his position in the race is partly due to belief in his myth after the 2016 victory, where prognosticators were wrong, and he was right.
A centrist article by NPR highlights that President Trump’s newest ad is a dramatization of an old white woman calling 911 and as she is attacked, the words “You won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America” flash on the screen. Ryan Costello, former Republican congressman from the Pennsylvania suburbs said that while many suburban voters think liberal activists have overstepped, they don’t think that Biden is going to defund their local police departments.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Trump is openly campaigning against crime in the streets run by Democratic mayors. The article notes that much of the national coverage downplays violence, whether spawned by protests or gangs.
