For eight months, the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol said it has evidence that former President Donald Trump and others "engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States." While left-leaning articles provide in-depth analysis of every allegation–providing reasoning and at times evidence, right-leaning articles were significantly shorter and merely summarize “the documents detail how Trump and associates conspired to spread false theories about 2020 presidential election fraud and pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to invalidate the election results.”
A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that the committee’s allegations were outlined in a court filing submitted by the committee. The article goes through each count: Obstruction of an official proceeding, and Conspiracy to defraud the United States; providing context on why each count is raised, and the parties involved and evidenced.
USA Today published a centrist article reporting that the documents detail how Trump and associates conspired to spread false theories about 2020 presidential election fraud. The court filing was part of the panel's efforts to force Eastman to disclose documents outlining the conspiracy.
A right-leaning article by New York Post, similar to articles from the center, highlights The House panel presented evidence that Trump and his cohorts deliberately spread proven lies about his election. The findings were filed in federal court Wednesday evening.
