Louisiana will delay its presidential primary election by more than two months due to coronavirus fears. While left-leaning articles highlight that other states are scheduled to vote on Tuesday as scheduled, right-leaning articles highlight that there are a few presumptive cases of coronavirus in Louisiana.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that officials in the next four states scheduled to vote in the presidential primary (Ohio, Arizona, Florida, and Illinois) have all decided to continue holding their elections on Tuesday as planned. Wyoming followed Louisiana’s announcement by suspending the in-person portion of its Democratic caucuses, scheduled for April 4.

NPR published a centrist article highlighting that Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin stated that the decision was made out of caution for Louisiana’s voters, voting officials, and the general public. Several polling locations are located in nursing homes, where older people face a much higher risk of serious consequences from the coronavirus.

Breitbart published a right-leaning article reporting that there are currently 3 presumptive positive cases of the coronavirus in Louisiana. The article also notes that the Democratic National Committee sent out a statement on Friday to state parties regarding potential changes due to the coronavirus.
