Control of the Senate for the upcoming midterm elections looks to be a toss-up between Democrats and Republicans. While left-leaning articles focus on statements from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), right-leaning articles focus on new polls and predictions from Fox News.
NPR published a centrist article reporting on how Democrats have gained support in the midterms due to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, hardline and untested Republicans winning primaries, and the January 6th investigation and FBI raid which have possibly made the election another Trump referendum. The article also notes that the top three races most likely to flip parties are Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona.
A left-leaning article from CBS discusses how McConnell stated that flipping the Senate is “a 50-50 proposition. We've got a 50-50 Senate right now. We've got a 50-50 nation. And I think the outcome is likely to be very, very close, either way. But the stakes will be big.” McConnell also stated that he doesn’t believe voters should worry about mass voter fraud.
A right-leaning article from the New York Post discusses how a Fox News Power Rankings predicts that Republicans will win a majority of between 2-30 seats in the House. Fox also predicts 49 safe Republican Senate seats and 46 safe Democratic seats.
