On Monday, police fatally shot 27-year-old Water Wallace in Philadelphia. The two leading candidates in the race, President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, have both focused heavily on condemning violence and looting as part of demonstrations against police brutality. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden and Harris called for “real police reform,” right-leaning articles highlight that Biden said there’s “no excuse whatsoever” for the looting and violence in Philadelphia.

MSN published a left-leaning article highlighting that both Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his vice-presidential running mate Kamala Harris called for “real police reform” in the aftermath of “another Black life in America lost.” Harris and Biden then urged that all violence cease.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that Trump downplayed his moral opinion on the shooting itself and focused his attention on the protests. Biden, the Democratic nominee, said he would set up a commission to better deal with how police interact with people dealing with mental health issues.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Biden says there’s “no excuse whatsoever” for the looting and violence in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Trump administration said it “stands proudly with law enforcement.”
