On Monday, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy defended his management of the U.S. Postal Service to the House. While left-leaning articles highlight DeJoy is acting as an agent for Trump and Republicans, right-leaning articles highlight called Democratic Representative Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts’ accusations “outrageous.”

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that the intensified focus on DeJoy suggests that he is functioning to some degree as an agent for Trump and on behalf of “ensuring a Republican takeover of the agency’s Board of Governors.” The article notes that DeJoy’s hearing alluded to an intentional debilitation of the postal service which now values efficiency over getting the mail out to every address, making it a less reliable and certain service.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that when lawmakers pressed DeJoy about his commitment to handling this year’s expected surge in election mail, the postmaster general stood his ground and stated his main initiative was instructing that mail trucks operate on schedule. On Saturday, the House also passed a legislation that would infuse $25 billion in the Postal Service and block the Postal Service from making any service or operations changes through at least January.

A right-leaning article by The Daily Caller highlights that DeJoy called Democratic Representative Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts’ accusations “outrageous” after the congressman blamed DeJoy for reported slowdowns in mail delivery. DeJoy called Lynch’s accusations “inaccurate and more misinformation for the American public.”
