Politicians continue to react to Biden’s student loan Forgiveness Plan. While left-leaning articles focus on how Biden is paying for the program, right-leaning articles focus on criticism from former president Donald Trump.

Newsweek published a centrist article reporting on how many are angry about who will pay for the Student Loan Forgiveness Plan. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) tweeted that “nothing is free, and someone is ALWAYS footing the bill. This time it's 87% of Americans without student loans.”

A left-leaning article from CNN discusses how the White House estimates that the student loan plan could cost $24 billion per year. The White House has struggled to answer how they would pay for the plan while simultaneously claiming that Biden waited for the plan to be “fiscally balanced” before announcing it.

A right-leaning article from Fox News discusses how Trump called Biden’s student loan program an “election enhancing money grab” and told his supporters to “stop voting for Democrats.” In addition to Trump, Republicans have accused Biden of announcing this plan to gain support amongst young voters before the election.
