On Monday, two moderate Republican senators said they would oppose Neera Tanden, President Joe Biden’s nominee for the White House Office of Management and Budget. While left-leaning articles highlight that almost all of Biden’s nominees pending on Capitol Hill are likely to be confirmed with the exception of Tanden, right-leaning articles highlight that both Senator Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine oppose Tanden’s harsh rhetoric towards lawmakers.

A left-leaning article by MSNBC highlights that almost all of Biden’s nominees pending on Capitol Hill are likely to be confirmed with the exception of Tanden. However, the article argues that Tanden is being held to a different standard, as Jeff Sessions had a lengthy record of making overtly partisan statements, as did Mike Pompeo.

USA Today published a centrist article reporting that Senator Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, are the moderate Republicans opposing Neera Tanden. Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. has been noncommittal to Tanden’s nomination.

A right-leaning article by New York Post highlights that both Collins and Romney cited Tanden’s harsh rhetoric towards lawmakers. Senator Joe Manchin, D-WV, also announced on Friday that he would oppose Tanden, citing her heated language as reason for his opposition.
