According to new polls, President Trump has a slight advantage over former Vice President Joe Biden among likely voters in Arizona and Florida. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden leads Trump among Latinos in Arizona, right-leaning articles highlight that the Biden campaign is downplaying the significance that the debate between Trump and Biden could have on the race.
A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that surveys illustrate that the national economy remains Trump’s strongest issue, and it helps him overcome voters’ disapproval of his handling of the coronavirus outbreak. In Arizona, Biden leads Trump among Latinos by 61 percent to 34 percent among registered voters.
The Hill published a centrist article reporting that the latest ABC News-Washington Post poll finds Trump leading Biden in Florida 51 to 47 percent, while in Arizona, the poll found Trump at 49 percent and Biden at 48 percent. In 2016, Trump carried Arizona by less than 4 points, and the state has only gone for the Democratic presidential nominee once in the last 50 years.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that the Biden campaign said it expects Trump to “lie through his teeth” at the first presidential debate, downplaying the significance it could have on the race, as Trump and Biden face off for the first time next week. Former White House press secretary for President Obama Jay Carney said the debate itself would be a “challenge.”
