On Thursday, President Trump visited a Ford Motor Co. factory in Michigan without wearing a mask. While left-leaning articles highlight that the majority of the public wants Trump to wear a mask, right-leaning articles highlight that Michigan’s attorney general does not welcome Trump back into her state.
CNN published a left-leaning article highlighting that according to a new Quinnipiac University national poll, two-thirds (67%) of Americans said Trump should be wearing a mask when he is in public, while less than 3 in 10 (27%) said he shouldn’t. The article notes that Vice President Mike Pence also sparked controversy last month when he was photographed at the Mayo Clinic without a mask.
Associated Press News published a centrist article reporting that while all the Ford executives who gave Trump a tour wore masks, the president stood alone without one, and at one point, took out a White House-branded mask from his pocket and told reporters he had worn it elsewhere on the tour. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said Trump’s decision “wasn’t surprising but it was disappointing.”
A right-leaning article by Washington Times highlights that Dana Nessel, Michigan’s attorney general, said President Trump is a “petulant child” who is no longer welcome in Michigan. She called the president childish for refusing to wear a mask.
