On Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised Republicans who voted to form a bipartisan, 9/11-style commission to investigate the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. While left-leaning articles highlights that several Republicans who oppose creating a commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol are potential witnesses to what former president Donald Trump and his aides, right-leaning articles highlight that with Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell all opposing the commission, it appears to be dead.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that several Republicans who oppose creating a commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol are potential witnesses to what former president Donald Trump and his aides were saying and doing. Even if Republican leaders are successful in sinking the bill, their accounts of that day may never come to light.

The Hill published a centrist article reporting that the House passed a bill to form such a commission on a 252-175 vote. When asked what the vote says about the GOP, Pelosi implored Republicans to “take back your party.”

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that with Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell all opposing the commission, it appears to be dead. McCarthy has become the media’s top target, and Pelosi accused the House GOP leadership of cowardice in attacking the minority leader.
