On Friday, President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden both traveled to northern Minnesota. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden criticized Trump’s view of the economy in a fiery populist speech, right-leaning articles highlight that Trump is trying to reclaim Minnesota after narrowly losing the state four years ago to Hillary Clinton.
The Washington Post published a left-leaning article highlighting that in a fiery populist speech in Minnesota, Biden criticized Trump’s view of the economy and continued to contrast his record with Trump’s. Biden also noted how the rich have gotten richer, not only during Trump’s presidency, but also during the global pandemic.
NPR published a centrist article reporting that Trump plans to hold a rally at an airport in the city of Bemidji on Friday evening, while Biden will visit a union training center in Duluth. A poll released this week from The Washington Post and ABC News found that almost 40% of Minnesotans plan to vote ahead of Election Day.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that even though it’s been nearly a half-century since a Republican won Minnesota in the race for the White House, Trump only narrowly lost the state four years ago to 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and is now aiming to end the losing streak. The president’s running mate, Vice President Mike Pence, will return to Minnesota next week, less than a month after he made an August trip to Duluth to headline a “Workers for Trump” campaign event.
