On Friday, President Donald Trump said that every American will have access to a coronavirus vaccine by April. While left-leaning articles highlight that no one knows yet when enough data will be collected from clinical trials to show that a vaccine in a late-stage trial is effective or safe, right-leaning articles highlight that Trump rallied against Biden, who said that he does not trust Trump’s word on vaccines.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that Trump said a vaccine would be ready in weeks and swiftly made available, despite the fact that no one knows yet when sufficient data will be collected from clinical trials to show that one of the vaccines in late-stage trials is effective or safe. The U.S. government has invested billions of dollars to manufacture vaccines before they are proved safe and effective.

USA Today published a centrist article reporting that Trump set a hard deadline for a coronavirus vaccination, despite the fact that several of Trump’s critics expressed skepticism. Trump’s assessment was much more optimistic than the one offered recently by Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A right-leaning article by The Washington Examiner highlights that Trump rallied against Biden, who said this week that he does not trust Trump’s word on vaccines. Fauci weighed in on Thursday and said technically both Trump and Redfield were right about the vaccine timeline, as the vaccine will likely be approved by November or December, where people at the highest risk of getting seriously sick will be able to get the first doses.
