On Tuesday, President-elect Joe Biden introduced selections for his national security team. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden faces challenges as Trump has finally allowed the presidential transition to move forward, right-leaning articles highlight that Republican Senator Marco Rubio is no fan of many of Biden’s foreign policy and national security Cabinet nominees.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that the odds of a major breakthrough on coronavirus relief during the lame-ducks session seems low, as Biden faces challenges as Trump has finally allowed the presidential transition to move forward. In the coming days, Biden plans to announce that he will nominate Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen to be his Treasury secretary, and John Kerry as a special presidential envoy on climate change.

A centrist article by PBS reports that Biden’s Washington veterans all have ties to former President Barack Obama’s administration. Avril Haines, a former deputy director of the CIA, was picked to serve as director of national intelligence.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Republican Senator Marco Rubio is no fan of many of Biden’s foreign policy and national security Cabinet nominees. He tweeted that “Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline.”
