On Sunday, former Vice President Joe Biden confirmed that he would choose a woman as his vice-presidential running mate if picked as the Democratic party’s nominee. While left-leaning articles highlight possible Vice President contenders for Biden, right-leaning articles highlight that Senator Bernie Sanders hasn’t firmly committed to naming a female as his vice-presidential nominee.
A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that during an interview with NBC News last week, Biden proactively raised Senator Amy Klobuchar, who endorsed Biden even before Super Tuesday. The article notes that the most obvious pick would be Senator Kamala Harris of California, who also ran against Biden in the 2020 nomination, but endorsed him after her home state of California voted.
Reuters published a centrist article highlighting that there were originally six women vying for the Democratic nomination at the start of the presidential race, but only Tulsi Gabbard remains. Sanders also said that “in all likelihood” he would also choose a woman as his running mate.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Biden also committed to appoint the first black woman to the Supreme Court. The article states that Bernie wouldn’t firmly commit to naming a female as his vice presidential nominee.
