President Trump and Mike Pence continue to update the nation on the coronavirus outbreak. While left-leaning articles highlight that President Trump played down the outbreak on Friday, right-leaning articles highlight that Pence promised that coronavirus testing will be covered by healthcare insurance.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that President Trump played down the coronavirus outbreak on Friday. At a visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, he insisted that the outbreak will end. Trump signed an $8.3 billion emergency spending bill at the White House to ramp up efforts to curb the virus, but emphasized that the outbreak in the United States was small by comparison with that in other countries.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that Vice President Mike Pence visited Pierce County, Washington to meet with state officials and assess the status of the coronavirus outbreak. The article notes that Washington state has 70 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, with 11 of the nation’s 12 deaths.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that of the 46 swab-tested on the Grand Princess cruise ship being held off the coast of California, 21 tested positive for the coronavirus. Earlier this week, Pence promised that coronavirus testing will be covered by private health insurance plans and by Medicare and Medicaid.
