As the coronavirus continues to spread, the Trump administration looks for ways to respond. While left-leaning articles highlight that lawmakers are still concerned about details regarding Vice President Mike Pence’s promised coronavirus tests, right-leaning articles highlight how the Democratic Party put politics over the coronavirus.
A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that Vice President Mike Pence reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had lifted all restrictions on testing for the coronavirus and would be releasing new guidelines to test people who fear they have the virus. However, under questioning from senators in both parties, Mr. Pence was unable to satisfy lawmakers’ concerns in how soon people would be able to get the tests and how much they would cost.
Reuters published a centrist article highlighting that U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said on Tuesday that an emergency funding bill to fight the coronavirus would be ready for Trump’s signature by Friday evening.
Fox News published a right-leaning article highlighting that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy accused Democrats of putting politics over the country in the face of the coronavirus threat. He stated that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi chose to lead ads against Republican House members instead of bringing a supplemental funding bill to address the virus.
