The Democratic National Convention is delayed until the week of August 17th. While left-leaning articles highlight that the Republican convention in Charlotte is still expected to go forward, right-leaning articles highlight that former Vice President Joe Biden stated that he expected the delay before it was announced.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that the Republican convention in Charlotte starts August 24, which both President Trump and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel pledged recently will go forward. The article also notes that a fully virtual convention is still a real possibility for both parties.

NPR published a centrist article highlighting that in recent days, former Vice President Joe Biden called for a delayed convention. The article also states that Biden hasn’t had an in-person campaign event since March 10th, when he and Sanders both cancelled primary night rallies in Ohio due to public health concerns.

Fox News published a right-leaning article reporting that the announcement for delaying the Democratic National Convention comes just hours after former Vice President Joe Biden said that he expected the delay. Biden also said that the public safety concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic is different from even the Civil War and World War II.
