While left-leaning articles highlight the White House’s winnowing patience towards Dr. Fauci, right-leaning articles highlight Dr. Fauci and President Trump’s abilities to work through their disagreements.
The New York Times published a left-leaning article highlighting that the patience of President Trump and some White House advisers has started to wear thin, as Dr. Fauci continues to take shots at the president in some of his interviews with print reporters. The president has resisted portraying the virus as the kind of threat described by Dr. Fauci and other public health experts, while Dr. Fauci has grown bolder in correcting the president’s overly rosy statements about the spread of the coronavirus.
USA Today published a centrist article reporting that when Trump played up a drug used to treat malaria as a “game-changer” in the fight against coronavirus, Dr. Fauci corrected the president by saying that evidence showing that the drug could be helpful was “anecdotal.” Dr. Fauci also grew defensive when asked about Trump’s claim that China could have told the world about the coronavirus months in advance.
A right-leaning article by New York Post highlights that Dr. Fauci said he will continue to work with President Trump on his coronavirus task force, despite recent disagreements between the two. Dr. Fauci stated that he makes sure to let the president or his team know the facts if he disagrees with something Trump has said.
