The Iowa caucuses are not over yet, as a delay in the results mean the state Democratic Party was not able to call the race Monday night as expected, leaving candidates and their supporters in limbo. While left-leaning articles highlight takeaways from the Iowa caucuses so far, right-leaning articles condemn Democrats for the technological malfunctions that occurred during the Iowa caucuses.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports on the partial results of the Iowa caucuses, which show Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders with a preliminary lead. The article states that the faulted smartphone app used during the Iowa caucuses was part of an initiative to restore the Democrats’ digital edge, but officials in Nevada, the next state to hold caucuses, said they would not use an app.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party Troy Price stated that the party is validating the precinct results against the paper trail. However, multiple county chairs blamed malfunctions on the app used to report results and found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights Fox news contributor Karl Rove stated that the Iowa caucuses “debacle” was caused by Democrats’ “incompetence from top to bottom.” Rove also stated that the Democratic Party should have had “somebody looking over the shoulders” of the Iowa Democratic Party.
