The results of the Iowa caucuses continue to be delayed, with new updates on how the reporting process became awry. While left-leaning articles report on how Iowa Democratic leaders revealed more about the reporting process, right-leaning articles criticize Democrats for the implications the Iowa caucuses have on the Democratic party as a whole.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times highlights that Iowa Democratic officials said on a private conference call on Wednesday night that nearly all the much-delayed results of Monday’s caucuses would be released by Thursday, but a few precincts would remain outstanding because tally sheets had been dropped into snail mail. Thus far, both former mayor of South Bend, Ind. Pete Buttigieg and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont have been claiming victory in Iowa.

Newsweek published a centrist article reporting that the Iowa Democratic Party released a statement on Thursday that contradicts an earlier verdict issued by the Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez. Perez called on the Iowa Democrats to conduct a recanvass of caucus worksheets and reporting forms to make sure that calculations were performed correctly, while the Iowa Democratic Party released a public statement stating that it must only respond within 48 hours to a “valid, written” request issued by a candidate.

A right-leaning article by The New York Post highlights that since the Iowa caucuses, the Democratic party has been in a “free fall,” as it is still unclear if any of their presidential candidates have mapped out a realistic way to nomination. The article also reports that multibillionaire businessman Bloomberg received a “shocking level of support” despite having entered the race late and failing to appear in a single debate.
