Nancy Pelosi has delayed the impeachment process by temporarily withholding the articles from the senate while she invites Trump to deliver his State of the Union address. While left-leaning articles describe a reason for Pelosi’s delay, right-leaning articles deem the delay “foolish” and “holding up the... process”.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post describes Pelosi’s delay as an effort to give Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., time to finish up negotiations of the parameters of the trial. “‘This is a matter that we are discussing,’ Schiff said. ‘I think the speaker is appropriately giving Senator Schumer time to negotiate with Senator McConnell and hopefully arrive at the terms of a trial that's fair to the president and the American people.’”

A centrist article by NPR reports that Trump has accepted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s invitation for him to deliver the annual State of the Union address on Feb. 4. With respect to the delay, the article merely notes that, “Pelosi has not yet sent the House's indictments to the Senate to begin such a trial though.”

Fox News published a right-leaning article highlighting that Gingrich said in his “America’s Newsroom” appearance on Friday, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s temporary hold on the two articles of impeachment is “absurd.” He continued to state that with every passing day, “Pelosi is going to look sillier and sillier.”
