On Tuesday, former President Barack Obama joined former Vice President Joe Biden in a virtual fundraiser. While left-leaning articles highlight that Obama derided Trump, right-leaning articles highlight that this is Obama’s first event for Biden since endorsing him.

A left-leaning article by CNN highlights that Obama appeared excited to be touting his former vice president throughout the call. At times, Obama also derided President Trump without mentioning him by name, accusing his administration of “actively promoting division.”

NPR published a centrist article reporting that Obama urged Democrats to do more, stating that the situation Biden would inherit with the coronavirus pandemic, a recession, and racial unrest is tougher than the one he faced when he came into office. The article also notes that this fundraiser is the latest in a series of virtual events with big-name Democrats that have brought in significant fundraising hauls for Biden.

Fox News published a right-leaning article reporting that joining Biden on a virtual fundraiser is Obama’s first event for Biden since endorsing him. The article notes that although Obama could help Biden this autumn, in the end there’s only so much a surrogate can do.
