Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is fighting for his political life in a Republican runoff for his old Alabama Senate seat. While left-leaning articles highlight that Trump continues to attack Sessions, right-leaning articles highlight that Trump’s endorsement of Tommy Tuberville is extremely influential.

A left-leaning article by Politico highlights that Trump continues to go after Sessions, tweeting that he is “a disaster who has let us all down.” His opponent, former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville is vying to take on Senator Doug Jones, who won a special election in 2017 and is the most vulnerable Democrat this year.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that Tuberville has an endorsement from President Trump. Although Sessions served 20 years in the Senate and was the leading voice against illegal immigration, he is now most associated with his decision to recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

Fox News published a right-leaning article highlighting that President Trump’s backing in a Republican primary is extremely influential, especially in potential low turnout contests such as in Alabama. Most recent polling suggest that Tuberville has a double-digit advantage over Sessions.
