The North Carolina Cherokee Guns billboard criticizing “The Squad” is coming down. The billboard shows photos of the four minority freshmen congresswomen (Reps. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib), who have been targeted by President Trump in a series of racist tweets. The billboard reads “The Four Horsemen Cometh,” where “Cometh” is crossed out and replaced with “are Idiots.”

A left-leaning article from CNN summarizes Trump’s conflict with the congresswomen, and quotes an interview with the gun store owner who put up the billboard: “The store's owner, Doc Wacholz, said that he chose the women because of ‘their message of turning this country into a socialist country,’ he told CNN affiliate WTVC.”

A Fox News article, published before it was announced that the billboard would come down, recalls former right-leaning billboards put up by Cherokee Guns: “The shop has used billboards to air political stances before. Last week, it posted photos of another billboard that featured a muscular Trump flexing his arms,

‘No collusion. No Obstruction. Just Guns!!! One mile on the right,’ the ad said.”

A center-leaning article from The Guardian also summarizes the controversy, noting that the statements made by Wacholz, were racist and inaccurate. They also noted that Wacholz followed up the controversy by attempting to capitalize on it: “Alright my fellow Infidels for Trump … due to OVERWHELMING demand … you may come by the shop (next week) and get your very own FOUR HORSEMEN COMETH STICKER … simple … eat a piece of bacon … tell us you’re voting for Trump in 2020 … then get your limited edition bumper sticker! (While supplies last!) Snowflakes and Liberals are not eligible … sorry …”
