On Tuesday, former national security adviser Susan Rice told NPR she is “honored and humbled” to be on Joe Biden’s shortlist for vice president. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden’s future Vice President should be prepared for online misogyny, right-leaning articles highlight that three candidates for Biden’s Vice President would be disqualified without debate in a normal year.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that Biden’s future Vice President should be prepared for an onslaught of online misogyny. A study by Lucina Di Meco, who studies gender and leadership issues at the Wilson Center, found that the three leading women — Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Kamala D. Harris (Calif.) and Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) — faced more attacks than their male competitors from right-wing and fake-news sites between December 2018 and April 2019.

A centrist article by NPR reports that Rice is a veteran of the past two Democratic administrations, serving on the National Security Council during the Clinton administration and as national security adviser under former President Barack Obama. If Rice was on the ticket for Vice President, Republicans would likely attack her on Benghazi, which Rice called an act of spontaneous violence, which was later shown to be incorrect.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that the three candidates for Biden’s Vice President would be disqualified without debate in a normal year. The article notes that Susan Rice is the lead for the VP slot, as she is smart and experienced, posing a threat.
