The House looks ahead at the impeachment proceedings, which will likely include a Senate impeachment trial. While left-leaning articles report on Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer’s proposal for a Senate trial, right-leaning articles highlight how Democrats in right-leaning districts are voting on impeachment.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that Schumer presented a proposal for a Senate trial in a letter to Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell. The content of the letter includes a proposal for a trail beginning January 7th that would give each side a set amount of time to present its case, as well as calls for four top White House officials who have not previously testified to appear as witnesses. However, McConnell told Fox News that he would be coordinating with the White House counsel in regards to his next steps in the impeachment proceedings.

NPR ran a centrist article stating that the House Judiciary Committee released its report on President Trump’s impeachment on Sunday, which is a combination of views from the majority Democrats and minority Republicans. The article also notes that the House is expected to vote this week to impeach Trump over what Democrats have identified as abuse of power and obstruction in the Ukraine affair.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Representative Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, whose districted voted for Trump in 2016, announced that she will vote to impeach Trump. On Friday, Slotkin said that she was undecided on the issue, but since then, has ultimately decided that the difference between Trump’s actions and presidents leveraging the role of the United States in the interests of the country, is that Trump used the power of the presidency for his own benefit.
