On Thursday, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden fired back at President Trump after he signaled he was against approving funding for the Postal Service Democrats have pushed for as part of coronavirus relief legislation. While left-leaning articles highlight Democrats have pushed to provide up to $25 billion in funding for the Postal Service, right-leaning articles highlight that Trump described universal mail-in voting as “a crazy thing.”

The Los Angeles Times highlights that Democrats have pushed to provide up to $25 billion in emergency funding for the Postal Service. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed back at Trump, stating that the agency’s bipartisan Board of Governors, which was appointed by Trump, had recommended the $25-billion boost.

The Hill published a centrist article reporting that Biden said Trump “doesn’t want an election.” Trump suggested that he was unwilling to make a deal with Democrats that included funding for the Postal Service because it would hinder efforts to send and receive mail ballots.

A right-leaning article by The Washington Examiner highlights that Trump described universal mail-in voting as “a crazy thing,” insisting that encouraging widespread use of mail-in voting could create opportunities for voter fraud. The article notes that Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer ripped Trump’s executive orders last weekend to help the unemployed, protect people from evictions, and offer student loan assistance.
