On Wednesday, House Republicans vented over President Trump’s video that threatened to veto the sweeping coronavirus relief and spending package. While left-leaning articles highlight that Trump filmed the video in secret, right-leaning articles highlight that Representative Chip Roy, R-Texas, said President Trump is right to oppose the new coronavirus relief package.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that the video message that Trump released without warning Tuesday night was filmed in secret. The timing of Trump’s declarations is also particularly problematic for the Republican party given the upcoming Senate runoffs in Georgia.

The Hill published a centrist article reporting that Democrats are seeking to turn against the GOP with a unanimous consent request to agree to stand-alone legislation that would make the checks $2000. Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told members he is willing to object to the unanimous consent vote.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Representative Chip Roy, R-Texas, said on Wednesday that President Trump is right to oppose the new coronavirus relief package. Roy said the bill is an “irresponsible swamp bill.”
