President Donald Trump released details on Tuesday of his proposal to solve the Israel-Palestine conflict. While left-leaning articles report that the proposal mostly meets Israeli demand, right-leaning articles report that the plan calls for a comprehensive two-state solution.

A left-leaning article by CNN highlights that Trump’s Middle East plan caters to almost every major Israeli demand, as under the proposal, Trump said Jerusalem “will remain Israel’s undivided capital.” Furthermore, when Trump presented his administration’s long-anticipated proposal to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was at his side and dozens of right-wing supporters of Israel flanked the podium.

A centrist article by Reuters reports that critics say Trump’s plan was released because both Trump and Netanyahu are intent on diverting attention away from domestic troubles. The article gives an overview of the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, which collapsed in 2014. In November, the United States said Washington no longer regarded Israeli settlements in the West Bank as a breach of international law and the past two decades have also seen the rise to power in Gaza.

Fox News published a right-leaning article highlighting that the Middle East plan was touted by President Trump as the “most detailed proposal ever put forward.” The article reports that the plan calls for a two-state solution, which includes a number of land swaps, cutting down terror attacks on Israeli settlements, and calls for Israel to halt the construction of any new settlements in contested areas for four years during which the details of the agreement would be negotiated.
