President Trump’s executive actions on pandemic economic relief will likely include $300 in unemployment benefits for many jobless Americans, as opposed to the extra $400 Trump promised last week. While left-leaning articles highlight that Trump’s actions will vastly undeliver, right-leaning articles highlight that Senator Ed Markey drew backlash from Senator Ted Cruz on Monday after tweeting an ambitious coronavirus stimulus plan.

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that economists say Trump’s executive actions will vastly undeliver for those most in need of help. Governors are also weighing in, calling Trump’s unilateral moves unworkable, saddling governors with “significant administrative burdens and costs.”

A centrist article by USA Today highlights that White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said the administration has decided states won’t have to chip in the extra $100 as long as they already provide at least $100 in state unemployment benefits. Kudlow said the checks should start going out in a couple of weeks.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Senator Ed Markey drew backlash from Senator Ted Cruz on Monday after tweeting an ambitious coronavirus stimulus plan, involving much larger checks paid much more frequently. Markey’s tweet was rebuked by Cruz, who said, "Why be so cheap? Give everyone $1 million a day, every day, forever. And three soy lattes a day. And a foot massage. We have a magic money tree — we should use it!"
