Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary, Katie Miller, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday. While left-leaning articles highlight that more than a dozen Iowa Democrats urged Pence to stay in Washington, right-leaning articles highlight that Miller tweeted she was “doing well.”
A left-leaning article by Bloomberg highlights that more than a dozen Iowa Democrats issued a statement urging Pence to stay in Washington, as Iowa reported 661 new cases of the disease on Thursday and 13 deaths. Six staffers who had contact with Miller left Pence’s plan subsequently tested negative.
NPR published a centrist article reporting that the discovery caused Pence’s departure to Iowa on Friday morning to be delayed by more than an hour. The article also highlights that White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany attempted to downplay the risk to the president, despite the possible close proximity of both the president and the vice president to Miller and another one of Trump’s aides who tested positive earlier this week.
A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Miller tweeted Friday night that she was “doing well.” The article also notes that the president and vice president, along with those in their close circle, are tested daily for the coronavirus.
