On Monday, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders officially endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden on a livestream video. While left-leaning articles highlight that Sanders’ endorsement of Biden was much different than his endorsement of Hillary Clinton four years ago, right-leaning articles highlight that Sanders’ national press secretary tweeted that she does not endorse Biden.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times highlights that in the split-screen campaign event where Sanders endorsed Biden, it was clear that the two had a very different relationship from the one between Sanders and Clinton, who he begrudgingly backed four years ago. The article also notes that progressive grass-roots leaders had little warning that Sanders was going to endorse Biden so quickly after exiting the race.

NPR published a centrist article reporting that during the livestream, Sanders and Biden discussed the nation’s coronavirus response and shared policy concerns about the economy, education, and criminal justice. While Biden told Sanders he appreciates their friendship, Sanders said that Biden is “the kind of guy who is going to be inclusive.”

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Briahna Joy Gray, who served as Sanders’ national press secretary, said that she does not endorse Joe Biden. Furthermore, she noted that Sanders, during the campaign, had “graciously” not mentioned Biden’s “credible sexual assault allegations” and “pattern of unwanted touching.”
