On Wednesday, former Vice President and his newly selected running mate, Senator Kamala Harris of California, made their first joint appearance in Wilmington, Delaware. While left-leaning articles highlight that Biden’s campaign has raised $26 million since Harris was named his running mate, right-leaning articles highlight that Harris said the country is “crying out for leadership.”

A left-leaning article by The Washington Post highlights that Biden’s campaign raised $26 million in the 24 hours since Harris was named his running mate. The article notes that this is the second time Biden has run on a history-making ticket, as he ran with Barack Obama, the first African American candidate for president, and now Harris, the first Black and Asian American woman to run on a major-party ticket.

A centrist article by NPR reports that Biden criticized President Trump’s personal attacks on Harris, stating that Trump is “whining about how she’s been ‘mean’ to his appointees.” Harris talked about the special relationship she formed with Biden’s late son, Beau, who she worked with when he was Delaware's attorney general.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Harris pointed to the coronavirus crisis and the financial fallout and said the country is “crying out for leadership.” Harris compared Trump’s handling of coronavirus to the Ebola public health crisis during the Obama administration.
