On Tuesday night, Former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders traded back-and-forth criticisms in dueling Twitter posts. While left-leaning articles emphasize Biden and Sanders’ video attacks on each other, right-leaning articles highlight that Sanders’ is being underestimated.

A left-leaning article by The New York Times reports that Biden released a video on Tuesday night that suggested the Sanders campaign was engaging in “dishonest attacks.” In recent weeks, the Sanders campaign has been intensely critical over Biden on issues such as his vote to authorize the war in Iraq, his long record on Social Security, and his reliance on high-dollar donors. The escalation between the two candidates also occurred at the same time an explosive interview with Hillary Clinton was released, in which she heavily criticized Sanders.

A centrist article by NPR highlights that Sanders’ campaign account wrote, “Let’s be honest, Joe. One of us fought for decades to cut Social Security, and one of us didn’t. But don’t take it from me. Take it from you.” The tweet included a clip from a speech Biden delivered in the mid-1990s, in which he backed up spending freezes for Social Security and other entitlement programs. Biden responded on his own account by saying he has been fighting to protect and expand Social Security for his whole career.

Fox News published a right-leaning article reporting that Fox News’ “Outnumbered” panelist Lisa Booth said that the strength of Sanders’ bid to defeat Biden in the Democratic primaries is being underestimated. She argued that Sanders almost won the Iowa caucuses in 2016 and won New Hampshire by double digits.
