Congress will return from its summer recess with the next coronavirus relief package. While left-leaning articles highlight that Republicans and President Trump need to settle differences, right-leaning articles highlight that White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel to Capitol Hill to discuss the bill.

The New York Times published a left-leaning article highlighting that Republicans toiled on Monday to resolve differences with President Trump over the next coronavirus relief package. The priorities of Trump have begun to diverge from those of Republicans, and the division among Republicans further complicated what was already expected to be an intense round of negotiations on the coronavirus aid package with Democrats.

A centrist article by NPR reports that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he wants more money for schools that are dealing with challenges of in-person learning, while Republicans really want to get kids physically back in school. While the political winds are shifting towards Democrats at this moment, Republicans would really like a win to go campaign on in November.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel to Capitol Hill Tuesday to meet with Senate Republicans over lunch on the next coronavirus bill. Republicans are looking at $100 billion of the $1 trillion to go to state and local governments, with $70 billion of that going towards assisting schools reopening in a safe manner.
