On Friday, White House counsel Pat Cipillone sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler attacking the Democrats’ impeachment process and indicating that the White House would not be participating in the impeachment inquiry.

A left-leaning article by CNN reports that although Cipillone’s letter doesn’t specifically state that the White House won’t participate in the impeachment inquiry, it alludes to this fact, according to a senior administration official. Nadler responded to this decision, saying, "Having declined this opportunity, he [Trump] cannot claim that the process is unfair. The President's failure will not prevent us from carrying out our solemn constitutional duty."

A centrist article by NPR highlights that the White House’s decision to stay out of the impeachment inquiry is in line with their general approach towards the House probe, as Trump and his supporters have continuously called the investigation a spam. The article reports that in the short two-paragraph letter, Cipollone said, "House Democrats have wasted enough of America's time with this charade."

The Daily Caller ran a right-learning article reporting that Cipillone quoted President Trump in his letter, stating that Trump urges Democrats to quickly hold a vote on impeachment so the Senate can begin a trial. The article reports that Trump said that in this trial, he would like to see the Republicans call upon House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, Hunter Biden, former Vice President Joe Biden, and the anonymous whistleblower to testify.
