Former White House national security adviser John Bolton has written a book that is to be published on June 23. While left-leaning articles highlight that Bolton’s book will include descriptions of President Trumps’ “inconsistent, scattershot decision-making,” right-leaning articles highlight that Bolton’s book accuses Democrats of committing “impeachment malpractice.”
The Washington Post published a left-leaning article highlighting Bolton’s book will include descriptions of President Trumps’ “inconsistent, scattershot decision-making” driven by “reelection calculations” rather than national security. Charles Cooper, Bolton’s lawyer, received a letter Wednesday from a White house lawyer warning him that the book contains classified material and needs to be revised.
Yahoo News published a centrist article reporting that the publisher, Simon and Schuster, said Bolton’s book details Trump’s dealings with China, Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. As Trump’s national security adviser for a total of 519 days, Bolton was a meticulous notetaker and in the room for a number of key foreign policy meetings.
The Washington Times published a right-leaning article highlighting that Bolton’s upcoming book accuses Democrats of committing “impeachment malpractice by keeping their prosecution focused narrowly on Ukraine when Trump’s Ukraine-like transgressions existed across the full range of his foreign policy.” Bolton’s book also reportedly asserts that Trump told him military aid to Ukraine was being blocked until that country turned over information on former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, and on whether Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election.
