A left-leaning article by NBC highlights that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi personally thanked a group of troops standing at attention in the front of the Capitol. Pelosi later took the floor of the House, stating, “He [Trump] must go. He is a clear and present danger to the nation we all love.”
The Hill published a centrist article reporting that Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy authorized the troops to be armed at the request of federal authorities. More than 20,000 National Guardsmen are expected to be in Washington for the inauguration.
