The Trump administration officially began to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization. While left-leaning articles highlight that various officials condemn the decision, right-leaning articles highlight that Pence believes the WHO “let the world down.”

CNN published a left-leaning article highlighting that Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the decision “an act of true senselessness.” The heads of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Physicians also condemned the move to withdraw from the WHO.

USA Today published a centrist article reporting that Trump and his advisers have blasted the WHO for failing to press China to be more transparent about the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak. However, critics said Trump’s attacks on the WHO are an attempt to deflect blame from his own mishandling of the coronavirus outbreak.

A right-leaning article by Fox News highlights that Vice President Mike Pence responded to bipartisan criticism of the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the WHO by telling “Special Report” that the WHO “let the world down.” Former Vice President Joe Biden vowed that his administration would re-join the WHO on his first day in office, but Pence said that if “Biden would've had his way we literally would've had tens of millions of more Chinese coming into our country and spreading the pandemic”
