This week, The United States engaged in an intensifying cycle of confrontation with China. While left-leaning articles highlight that Pompeo spoke of the dangers of “Communist China,” right-leaning articles highlight that China ordered the closure of the U.S. consulate in the city of Chengdu.

The Washington Post published a left-leaning article highlighting that on Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke of the dangers of “Communist China” to the future of the free world.“ Although the Trump administration has abdicated a position of global leadership during the pandemic, China’s authoritarian rulers have hardly boosted their own image.

Reuters published a centrist article reporting that Washington demanded this week that China shut its Houston consulate in 72 hours, infuriating Beijing. However, Beijing is unlikely to make significant changes in dialogue, as Shi Yinhong, an adviser to China’s cabinet said that China is angry with Trump for his criticism of China.

Fox News published a right-leaning article highlighting that China ordered the closure of the U.S. consulate in the city of Chengdu. However, the White House claims that Chinese agents in the Texas consulate have been attempting to steal scientific data from facilities in the state.
